Winter drabble for amilyn. Prompts were: fandom, Scarecrow & Mrs King, Dotty, bookend.

Highly suspicious, that's what it was.

Dotty eyed the way the books sagged to the right on the bookshelf.

Something was up.

First that outré bookend--a post-modern sort of thing, looking like a plain black box, not at all to her daughter's taste--had turned up on the shelf.

It had held the books properly upright until five minutes ago, when Amanda had rushed in, grabbed the bookend, and raced out of the house with it.

In Amanda's wake, the quiet settled over her. Dotty sat down on the couch and stared at the leaning books.

Yes.

Definitely suspicious.
