FNL drabble: The Rush (Gen, G, post-series), for amchara's birthday

The sky's an intense blue, and Smash sweats beneath his robe. When they call his name over the loudspeakers, he feels like it's happening to someone else. The stands are a blur of faces; he can't find the familiar ones.
Mama cries, hugging him and anyone she's on a first-name basis with, and some she's not.
Ducking away alone behind the main hall, Smash unrolls the paper from its tube with shaking fingers, inhales.
He traces the lettering of his name. It's not better than winning the Division trophy, but his heart races warm in his chest all the same.
